For a long time, it was impossible to imagine film and event technology without color filter foils. They were an important part of lighting technology, especially for very hot (halogen) spotlights, which can only produce white light on their own. As colored light can now be produced directly with the development of LED technology, color filter foils are no longer in such high demand and are no longer as varied (color tones) and easy to obtain. However, they are still fabulous for luminaire construction. You can use them to design lampshades or simply encase fluorescent tubes to create a different light color. They can also be used for many other model making and DIY projects for which you are looking for a clear, colorful, thin, robust and durable film.
The films are quite thin and can be cut easily with a cutter or scissors. Scotch Magic Tape is suitable for bonding as it is heat-resistant up to 150 °C. The low thickness of the film is a disadvantage if the construction requires a certain degree of inherent stability. Transparent or translucent polycarbonate or polypropylene sheets are suitable for reinforcement, as are perforated sheets or wire mesh made of various metals.
Color filter film is of course still suitable for coloring white light. You can insert the film into a color filter frame in front of a halogen spotlight and use it to change the color of light for stages, shop windows, model making, photography, presentations or decorative lighting structures. The color foils are heat-resistant and suitable for high-power halogen spotlights.
