These colored polystyrene mirror panels combine a metallic, reflective surface with a slightly embossed texture, whose irregular faceting is reminiscent of a very coarse hammered finish. The backing material consists of high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), while the visible surface is made of PET. The embossed texture deliberately distorts the mirror image: instead of a flat, undistorted reflection, a lively reflection is created in which light and the surroundings appear differently on the individual facets depending on the viewing angle. This makes the panels particularly suitable for decorative surfaces where the reflective effect itself is intended to be part of the design.
You can use the panels, for example, for wall cladding, furniture fronts, and displays in retail and trade show design. The actual material thickness (unembossed) is 2 mm; at its highest points, the embossed structure reaches up to 3.5 mm. According to the manufacturer, the material can be cut, drilled, sawed, milled, and laser-cut, among other things. With a minimum specified bending radius of 1,000 mm, you can also design correspondingly large curved surfaces. The panels are temperature-resistant up to 50 °C and are only suitable for use in damp areas to a limited extent. You should wipe water splashes off the surface as soon as possible.
The facets have a diameter of approximately 8–15 cm. Please note that you can also easily order the panels from us in the 1 x 2.6 m size if your project is on a larger scale. The panels are excellent for mechanical processing and generally do not chip when cut with a saw, circular saw, or guillotine shears (use a dull blade!!!). Drilling with metal drill bits and wood drill bits can also usually be done without any problems. However, it’s always advisable to conduct preliminary tests. We’ve had nothing but positive experiences with our cutting machines, though.
When caring for and cleaning the panels, make sure not to use abrasive cleaners or alcohol. The cleaning cloths used should be soft and free of dust and dirt.
