The Toyo Steel leather insert is a precisely tailored base liner for Toyo metal boxes. Simply place it on the inner bottom of the box. There, it provides a smooth, slightly cushioned surface for writing instruments, drawing tools, sewing supplies, small tools, or other items you store in the metal box. The liner completely covers the steel bottom and complements the box’s simple design with a material that feels pleasant to the touch.
The insert is made of bonded leather, also known as leather fiber material. To create this material, shredded leather fibers (60%) are mixed with latex resin, oil, and other components and processed into a uniform sheet. Over time, the color and patina may change. We use bonded leather from the German manufacturer Salamander. Each insert bears the Toyo Steel logo and is manufactured in Japan. The surface is smooth, and all available sizes are 1 mm thick. If the insert gets wet, you should let it air dry outside the box. Leather cleaners and leather care products are not recommended for this material, as they can leave permanent stains or cause an uneven surface.
