Canvas is a course cotton fabric that can either be made with a basket weave or a tabby (linen) weave – it is very hard-wearing and tear proof and can be tightly stretched without losing its shape. These attributes make it great for use as a sail or tarpaulin or as a base material for making bags or sturdy clothing. Unbleached and undyed canvas can be found under our cotton canvas, natural.
Note: this cotton canvas material should be washed before working with it because it will shrink.
Care tips:
- Washing should be done with organic detergent that has no brighteners or bleaching agents.
- It can be washed by hand or machine at 40 °C, wash dark colours separately, machine dry at low heat and iron with a warm setting (150 °C).
