Fimo is a plastic-based modeling clay that hardens irreversibly in the oven. It consists of PVC and inorganic fillers, such as kaolin. The plastic mixture is colored with pure and brilliant color pigments. The bright color variants of Fimo Professional can be mixed with each other, but also with the products Fimo Soft and Fimo Effect.

Fimo was developed as modelling clay for children. However, the modeling clay is increasingly turning out to be a versatile material for professional model making. Due to its high dimensional accuracy, small and very individual parts can be produced in the desired color. These include, for example, special cars in architectural model making, individually designed buttons, fittings or figures.

After Fimo has been kneaded softly with warm hands, it is easy to shape and condition precisely. Classic modeling tools and cutters are suitable for this. To stabilize jewelry, filigree sculptures and figures, we recommend fittings made of wire or wooden toothpicks that can be worked into the material. The wire and wooden frameworks can be baked in the oven without any problems.

Fimo Professional hardens at 110 °C within 20 to 30 minutes. It can then be easily reworked with a circular saw or sandpaper. The resulting surfaces have a slightly marbled appearance. Parts can always be attached to the hardened objects and the entire model can be baked again in the oven. This procedure can be repeated until the surface is finished with acrylic paint or clear varnish according to your own design wishes.

In contrast to Fimo Soft, Fimo Professional - formerly Fimo Classic - has a consistency that is aimed at advanced and professional modelers. The modeling clay is firmer than Fimo Soft and is therefore more suitable for detailed objects and constructions. Nonetheless, all product ranges can be mixed with each other and both unusual colors and material strengths can be developed.
