Hollow glass beads are a mineral lightweight filler for admixture in casting, filling and potting compounds based on epoxy resins, polyurethanes or polyester resins. The very fine, spherical particles with a high void content are used for targeted density reduction in casting and filling compounds. Due to their low weight and shape, they improve the workability of resin systems and reduce the total mass without significant loss of compressive strength.
The hollow glass beads are chemically inert, thermally stable and mechanically resilient. Due to their mineral composition, they can be permanently incorporated into resin systems without affecting their chemical curing. They are particularly suitable for technical applications where weight, thermal properties or volume are decisive parameters - for example in model making, surface finishing or in the industrial production of lightweight components. The spherical structure also results in a uniform filling pattern and supports homogeneous processing because the flow behavior of the compounds is improved by the addition of the hollow microspheres.
