Book screws can be opened and closed again and again. That’s why they’re especially useful for your bookbinding projects that require flexible fill heights or quickly replaceable pages: For photo albums (e.g., like our screw-bound photo album), presentation folders, menus, or sample books. If you need a different fill height, simply change the length of the book screws or use the extensions.
The specified lengths describe the possible thickness of the “book” between the screw heads. The fill height is slightly adjustable upward, depending on how far you screw the screw into the shaft. Under no circumstances should you use book screws that are too long, as the bound papers will otherwise rattle around between the heads.
All of our standard book screws have a shaft diameter of 5 mm, which means you can use a 5 mm drill bit, a hand drill, or—for holes with a little more clearance—a standard hole punch to pre-drill holes.
Modulor DIY Tip: If you want to make a photo album like the screw-bound photo album yourself, you’ll need, in addition to the book screws, items such as photo cardstock, black cardboard, and Filmoplast T.
