The BeaverCraft Spoon Carving Knife is a specialized wood carving tool for hollowing out spoons, bowls, and other round recesses. It belongs to the hook / spoon carving knife category and is designed for work where you want to carve concave shapes in wood. Due to its semi-circular blade, this knife is particularly effective when carving recessed, round shapes that are difficult to produce with straight knives.
Classic examples of use include making spoons or hollowing out the head of a spoon with an even, round cut. You can also shape bowls and cups or - in more abstract terms - cut grooves and indentations out of the wood. Thanks to the semi-circular blade, the knife can be guided very well along the grain of the wood when carving in and out. This makes it possible to remove material evenly and cleanly - even in deep or hard-to-reach areas.
As the blade is made of carbon steel, it is important to protect it from moisture. Always store the blade in a dry place after use. Regular oiling or wiping after use prevents corrosion. The blade can be easily resharpened with whetstones or honing tools, which will keep it sharp in the long term.
