The Beavercraft gouge with curved blade is a hand-held carving tool for the targeted processing of concave wooden shapes. It was developed for work where material needs to be removed from recesses in a controlled manner, for example when carving spoons or hollowing out bowls and small vessels. The short, curved blade with a enables an even cut in round and deep areas where straight carving knives or flat chisels cannot be guided precisely.
The blade width of 14 mm allows a balanced removal of material: you can carve out volumes as well as trace shapes without cutting too roughly into the wood. Thanks to the curved design, the handle remains raised from the workpiece during work, which improves control and prevents jamming. The gouge is designed for working with pure hand pressure and is not intended for use with a mallet or hammer.
The blade is made of carbon steel, which is supplied hardened and pre-sharpened. This steel enables clean cuts and can be easily resharpened if necessary. The ash wood handle is ergonomically shaped and oiled so that it sits securely in the hand even during longer work steps. Thanks to its compact design, the gouge is suitable for finer finishing work as well as for controlled deepening of pre-formed areas.
