Alginate is a skin-compatible, powdery algae-based material that you can use for impressions after mixing with water. It hardens into an elastic material that can be poured immediately after hardening (e.g. with plaster). Alginate is suitable for the quick and detailed production of negative molds, e.g. of hands, faces or objects. An integrated color indicator visually shows the processing phases - from the mixing phase (pink) to the setting time (orange) to demoldability (yellow). This makes timing during application much easier. Thanks to its good flowability and elastic final hardness, even fine details can be molded cleanly and then poured with casting materials.
Alginate is often used in dentistry and prosthetics for taking impressions. Proper storage in airtight containers protects the material from moisture and preserves the full storage life of up to six years.
