General information:
The spacing or the number of teeth (cutting ridges) per inch of the file is designated as the "cut".
A rasp cut is a pattern where each tooth is individually formed by a single point tool or punch - the teeth are formed separately and are disconnected. Within this group there is the bastard or second-cut rasp which refers to the coarseness of the teeth with the bastard being the coarsest and the second-cut being the medium. (A third type is called "smooth" and is the finest).
Our rasps have about 5.3 to 16 teeth per square centimetre and rather belong to the coarse group for a high degree of material removal.
Information for flat rasp: for working on surface areas and corners
Information for half-round rasps: for working on surface areas, radii and profiles
