Molotow has a wide selection of replacement nibs for its line of markers. These nibs of course increase the potential uses of the markers: making fine lines or thick bars, doing caligraphy with brush-like calligraphy tips and so on. It is very easy to interchange the nibs: you simply pull the nib out of the pen and stick the new one in - done!

Dr Molotow the friendly gentleman with horn-rimmed glasses exuding expertise was always ready to impart some good advice about how to increase the paint flow of his nibs: "you take a hammer and tap them so they spread out a bit. Felt fibres that are spread out take up more paint. The wider you make the tip with the tapping hammer, the wider the paint stroke will also look."

It seems that not only the Molotow paints and the many possible mixtures are responsible for opening up the  possibilties for creating unique results: the replacement nibs themselves can be individually reworked! The option of making a few precise cuts in the nibs with a cutter in order to form a special shape is clearly something that can also be done fairly easily. As you wade into your next crafts project it will be good to know that both sides of the replacement nibs can be used and that paints from other manufacturers will work perfectly well.

Info about each nib: The Specialtech nib (008) has the finest tip and is especially great for making thin contour lines. However, it clogs much more quickly than the other nibs and must be held vertically when in use - it will also wear down more quickly when used on coarse surfaces. If you are writing or drawing with fine lines on such rough surfaces as stone or even canvas it is probably better to use the rigid plastic nib (030) with its long service-life; it may not make as fine a line but its longevity more than makes up for that.

The yellow Highflow nibs put out more paint and thus produce a thicker paint stroke!

It has been our experience that the pens do not tend to dry out all that fast but we nonetheless can recommend a couple of measures you can take to prevent their drying or what to do when there is an emergency: for one, prophylactically moisture the nib with water before putting the pens away for a lengthy period, while for the case of emergenc you can treat the dried-out nibs with some acetone in order to revive their softness and make them usable again. If you do not plan on using the pens for a lengthy period you can simply pack them away in a small plastic bag.
