Dark elegance: Our black colored table-top is cut from a piece of high-density MDF (Valchromat), processed at the edges and corners and oiled. Done.
If you want a completely black yet light-looking dining table or meeting table, you can place the MDF tabletop with beveled edges from a diameter of 1 m, for example, on a table frame from our Y series with black tubular steel legs, or solid wooden legs made of black stained ash.
The edges of our MDF tabletop are beveled at an angle of 25°. Only approx. 8 mm of material remains as a visible tabletop edge, so that the stable tabletop appears significantly thinner, almost floating, despite its dark color.
Oiled, moisture-repellent surface
The open wood fiber surface is treated twice with a special hard wax oil. This makes the table-top moisture-repellent and resistant for your everyday use, but the surface remains open-pored and retains a pleasant, warm feel.
By the way, no Valchromat plate is the same: you can recognize small wood fibers that have not taken on any dye during the dyeing process. Likewise, the black color can vary slightly depending on the types of wood used for the pulp. This gives your black MDF table-top its unique and lively appearance.
Valchromat - a further development of MDF
Valchromat is a water-repellent, solid-colored and highly compressed wood fiber board. During production, wood fibers are dyed with organic colors. Together with a special glue and the power of a press, this creates a dense, homogeneous and very flex-resistant fiberboard with a high weight. Valchromat is a further development of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), has more precise and more homogeneous cut surfaces, a higher bending stiffness and a finer finish than "Normal" MDF.
So your oiled MDF table-top stays beautiful for a long time
The oiled wood fiber surface of the MDF table-top is protected from dirt and moisture. If you spill coffee or water on the table-top, the protective film made from an oil-wax mixture prevents the liquid from penetrating immediately, but you should hurry to wipe it off to prevent it from being drawn into the surface. You can use the oiled MDF table-top for your dining table, desk or conference table in the office. But make the effort to oil the surface regularly, then your black table-top will age with elegance and become even more beautiful.
Matching table frames
As mentioned above, the MDF table-top with a beveled edge looks particularly light on our Y table frames, as their frames are offset inwards and are therefore not visible at first glance. For good flatness, we advise you to always screw the 19 mm thick plate to the table frame.
