The Graphtec CE6000-40 Plus cutter-plotter expands our cutter-plotter assortment so that it includes a comparatively economical device for professional needs with a reliable technology and a durable housing.
The Graphtec CE6000-40 Plus cutter-plotter is a roll feed plotter with which allows you to change between a drag knife mode or tangential cut mode. If you are going to be working on thicker material the tangential cut should be used whereas for thinner material that you want to cut quickly the drag knife mode should be your choice. In both cutting modes the blade head is driven by a digitally controlled, field-tested servo motor that is used in all the 6000 series machines. In order to give a numerical sense of the precision of the servo motor: the manufacturer gives the repetitive accuracy as 0.1 mm (or better) on a length of two metres and establishes the mechanical and programmable resolution at 0.0005 mm - and that over the whole cutting width and over a length of two metres.
If the cutting area is more closely examined you will see two gummed grid rollers that are attached on one axis that serve as the transport mechanism for the media to be worked on. The width of the rollers can be manually and quickly adjusted to optimally suit whatever job you undertake. In this way even small pieces that have been optimally measured to match the needs of your job can be inserted and the amount of waste will be considerably reduced. The sensor-controlled cutting head runs along the other axis and this can be driven by a 4-point registration mark sensor for skew correction (axis alignment). The integrated registration mark system ARMS is, in the case of printed templates, capable of correcting a faulty, distorted print on the basis of the data and works in conjunction with additional registration marks on the longitudinal sides, which thereby increases the accuracy when cutting longer prints.
The registration mark detection also enables contour cuts, i.e. the combination of printing and plotting: in this way you can crop a picture, print it with registration marks and cut it out along the transparency path. In is thus comparatively easier and faster to make, for example, printed folding boxes.
A general determination of the service life of a blade is not really possible because it will depend on the material being cut. The machine has, however, a function that ascertains the blade wear to be expected when cutting specific materials based on experience and the machine can then use these values to process reliable information on the condition of your blade.
With its maximum cutting speed of 900 mm/s, the CE6000-40 Plus is markedly fast and can also execute larger cutting jobs within a reasonable amount of time. The working speed can be set at eleven different levels, which allows you to experiment with the machines capabilities in terms of this function as well - what is the best speed for getting a really clean cut in a specific material? Slower speeds, for example, are best when working with paper. The same is true for the cutting force, which can be regulated in 31 different levels - and this also makes it possible to establish that value for different materials. For materials that are worked on more frequentiy, it is possible to store in the memory up to eight settings. A whole series of settings and correction possibilities are available through the use of the function buttons right on the display and the software controlled movement can be overridden. For many types of jobs this will get you to your goal much faster - for example if you just want to manually set the starting point for your cutting work.
Another super important feature, especially for continuous operation: The machine not only works quickly and accurately but is also pleasantly quiet - a feature that soothes your nerves and promotes concentration on the things you want to do parallel to your job.
Application: The Graphtec CE6000-40 Plus cutter-plotter can draw, cut, and perforate. These work steps can also be combined so that a completely cut out shape can also include printed, perforated and cut-out elements. Typical areas of application include:
In order to enable you to have some notion about which materials can be processed up to what thicknesses/grammatures, we provide here the following information and values taken from past experience. These facts and figures are only meant to serve as orientation aids and not as hard and fast limits that should in no way be exceeded:
- all paper and cardboards up to a grammature of 240 g/m² (according to technical specifications; in our own test we have attained good results at higher grammature values)
- wood veneer (Decoflex)
- two-sided adhesive film along with various other self-adhesive and non-adhesive films (technical specification here: up to 0.25 mm material thickness: but here, as well, greater thicknesses are worth a try). Within the framework of our own tests we have had good results with, for example, 0.5 mm polypropylene sheets...
Thicker materials can also be cut simply by repeating the cut a number of times - this works because of the machines extremely good repetitive accuracy as given above!
Processing: Practically anything that can be created on a monitor screen and provided with a path (outline, contour line) can be processed with this cutter-plotter. The included software offers a series of functions for entering text, for drawing shapes, for importing images and creating outlines - although these are not really at a level comparable to the professional programs like Illustrator or Corel Draw! Those professional programs can, however, be used if you install the respective plug-ins. Up to 2 MB of cutting data can be filed directly in the machines memory which thus allows that cutting work to be done (also multiple times with small modifications) at the same time that another processing job is running on your computer.
Materials without carrier material (backing) that are meant to be cut all the way through or also just smaller pieces of material can be placed on a cutting substrate which has a slightly adhesive surface (in the case of thin, sensitive materials we recommend preliminary tests!) These substrates are consumable items that need to be replaced after a certain amount of time. Instead of the original cutting substrate, other films from our assortment can also be used as replacements (e.g. thin PC film, PET film or (rigid) PVC film as long as they treated with an adhesive coating beforehand (e.g. Creative Mount spray adhesive or Aslan DK4 double-sided adhesive film). The original carrier sheets do have a printed grid on them that does indeed make the positioning of the material to be cut a lot easier, but this does not seem to be important enough to justify spending additional money for the advantage.
