This separable spiral zipper is water-repellent by virtue of two factors: first, it is sealed with a polyurethane coating on one side and, secondly, it is designed to be sewn into place in such a way that the coated side (the side on which the zipper is not visible) faces outwards – where the rain would come in! Not only is the zipper thereby water-repellent but the spiral is protected against dirt as well. In addition, less sewing work is required because there is no need for a protective flap over the zipper. It has proven itself as a front fastener and pocket zipper on raincoats and outdoor jackets as well as in the fields of (photo) bags, cases and sleeping bags.
