100% cotton, impregnated with potato starch derivatrives (stiffened), coated with polyvinyl acetate, fabric construction: warp 23.0 threads (Nm 50)/cm, weft 14.3 threads (Nm 50)/cm, usable width = 980 mm

Books have traditionally been made up of two separately produced elements: the book block and the book cover, both of which must essentially be solidly bound to one another. Shirting (from the English word “shirt” meaning any material used for making shirts) is a very dense, impregnated cotton fabric. It is used as a way to make a bond between the book cover and the endpaper or to reinforce the signatures at the spine thereby preventing the possibility of their being torn out from the book block. Because shirting is particularly strong and resilient, it can also be used as a backing for maps or placards or passepartout hinge connections. This cloth is suitable for blind emboss or hot foil embossing methods and can be offset or screen printed.

Note

Please note that no exchange is possible in the case of products cut from rolls.
