Although most substrates such as paper, painting boards or canvases can be painted with tempera, acrylic or oil paints without prior treatment, it is advisable to apply a primer beforehand. Priming with Royal Talens Gesso Amsterdam ensures a more economical and even application of paint, brings out the colors better and also improves their adhesion.

Gesso Amsterdam is suitable for dust and grease-free absorbent painting surfaces such as canvas, wood, plywood, cardboard or paper. In addition, you can also use the gesso as a primer for wall painting on alkaline and non-alkaline substrates such as fresh concrete, stucco and brick.

Royal Talens Gesso Amsterdam is available in three different colors. You can pre-treat the substrate not only in classic white, but also in black or transparent. The different variants can be mixed with each other and colored with acrylic paints.

You can dilute the primer with water if necessary or apply it extra thick for strong texturing. Gesso is waterproof after drying.
