With your purchase you make a small contribution to the preservation of our forests, because for every Tornado Rescue made from bamboo, the manufacturer donates to the non-profit Arbor Day Foundation.
For refills, you can use standard large capacity refills - e.g. the Kaweco gel rollerball refill G2, but also the Kaweco ballpoint refill G2 if you want to convert the Tornado Rescue into a ballpoint pen.
