The Jacquard Cyanotype Blue Print Kit is a comprehensive kit for creating cyanotypes, a historic photographic process that uses UV light to create deep blue monochrome prints. Also known as "sun printing", the technique is often used by artists, photographers, DIY enthusiasts and educational institutions. This kit allows you to easily realize your sun printing projects on paper, fabric and other porous materials. With the kit you can create shadow images of leaves, lace or other objects. You can also use photographic negatives to print detailed images on paper or fabric. The kit contains enough material for at least 12 prints (DIN A4).
The required chemicals are filled as powder in opaque bottles. To prepare, fill the bottles with water and shake well. Then leave the solutions to stand for approx. 24 hours until the powder has completely dissolved. Then mix both solutions together in equal parts to make the light-sensitive emulsion. This can be kept for about 2-4 hours. It is therefore best to only mix as much as you need. Then apply the emulsion to the desired material with a brush and leave it to dry in the dark.
Now comes the image-forming part of the technique: place objects or negatives on the coated material (fix with clamps or pins if necessary) and expose it to UV light or sunlight. Several minutes or even hours of exposure time may be necessary. After exposure, rinse the exposed material in cold water for at least 5 minutes until the water runs clear. Then leave the material to dry in the air. The characteristic deep blue color will develop within 24 hours.
