The Jacquard color remover paste Decolourant is used for the targeted removal of dyes from dyed natural fibers such as cotton, linen, silk and wool as well as from craft paper. It is formulated as a ready-to-use paste and therefore differs from liquid dye removers or sprays. The chemical action is directed against the dye, not the fiber: Decolourant removes dye without weakening or destroying the fiber structure, as would be the case with classic bleaching agents.
It is applied directly to the dyed surface with a brush, sponge, stencil, screen print or stamp. After drying, the color removal is activated by heat. Ironing at the highest possible temperature suitable for the fabric and, if necessary, with steam will start the color removal process. You should then wash the material to restore the softness of the fibers and remove any residual paste.
The resulting color nuances after dye removal depend on the original type of dye; they are not always completely white, but can appear beige, pastel or in other light shades. It is therefore advisable to carry out a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area before large-scale applications are carried out.
Decolourant is suitable for textile design techniques such as screen printing, stamp printing or painting on fabrics if color is to be reduced or selectively removed. Due to its paste-like consistency, it is particularly suitable for applications where control and precision are important.
