Properties:
Tyvek is lighter than conventional materials of similar strength. Soft Tyvek has a textile character. Rigid material is roughly comparable in appearance and texture to Japanese paper. Depending on the type, it can be folded almost endlessly and is highly resistant to abrasion. Tyvek is tear-resistant when wet and dry. Unlike paper, it is highly weather-resistant, suitable for outdoor use and conditionally UV-resistant. Tyvek can be used in temperatures from -75 to + 75 degrees and resists a wide range of chemicals.
Application:
It has proven useful for making room dividers or kites, lampshades, decorations, stencils, and fashionable or protective clothing.
Processing variations:
Tyvek can be cut, die-cut, stitched, laminated or sewn like paper/fabric.
Superglue is ideal for selective bonding. Contact adhesive such as Pattex, Ponal or spray adhesive is suitable for more extensive bonding. Tyvek can be printed by classical methods. It is not suitable for photocopiers or laser printers. Felt-tip pens and conventional acrylic paints are suitable for painting.
To iron Tyvek, place a damp cotton cloth on the surface and iron at the "SILK" setting.
For all applications it is recommended to make a sample in advance.
