Big eyes, wild horns, and a mouth that jingles: With the DIY Sock Monster Kit, you can create two imaginative characters that can then star in your very own puppet show. Socks form the base, while felt and various craft supplies give the monsters their faces. The included instructions show you how to make them and leave room for your own creative ideas.
With pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and glitter clay, each monster gets its own unique look. You can shape pipe cleaners into horns or ears, add pom-poms as eye-catching details, and use the glitter modeling clay to create nostrils, for example. The included eyes turn the sock into a little character—friendly, cheeky, or a bit puzzled. Experiment with how its face changes when you arrange the individual elements differently.
Once you’re done crafting, the next round of creativity begins. Give your monsters names, invent matching voices, and let them strike up a conversation with each other. This way, the set combines crafting with different materials with imaginative play. It’s perfect for craft afternoons with children ages four and up and provides characters for little stories, improvised dialogs, and self-created plays.
