Viarco Graphite Art Graf, watercolorable is a water-soluble graphite material that combines drawing and painting techniques. Whether malleable graphite putty, pressed graphite powder or loose graphite powder in a paper bag: all variants are based on water-activated graphite and allow you to flexibly combine dry and wet techniques.
When dry, Art Graf creates intense, dark lines and surfaces. In combination with water, the material dissolves and can be worked into differentiated gray values with a brush. This allows you to develop fine gradations between transparent glazes and dense, deep shadow areas. Lines that have already been set can be modulated or partially dissolved with water, allowing corrections and soft transitions to be made.
The modeling clay is malleable and can be held directly in the hand. You can divide it into individual pieces, use it on a flat surface or work with edges. It is suitable for expressive, direct applications as well as for large-scale tonal value studies.
The pressed powder in the metal tin is compactly bound and can be used like a watercolor pencil: Use a wet brush to pick up pigment directly from the tin. This variant supports controlled work and clean storage.
The loose powder in the paper bag offers you maximum flexibility in dosing. You can sprinkle it on dry, add it to mixing bowls or mix it individually with water. This makes it particularly suitable for larger formats, experimental techniques or creating your own mixtures.
Paper with a sufficient grammage is recommended for all variants, especially if water is added intensively. Depending on the amount of water and the background, you can create precise drawings, atmospheric gradients or high-contrast studies.
