The Hand Lettering × Watercolor Set from Staedtler combines several tools for creative lettering and watercolor effects in one compact set. With this set, you are perfectly equipped to enter the world of hand lettering or to try out painting techniques with watercolor effects. In addition to six colored pencils, each with a brush tip and a fine tip, the set includes a water-tip brush, a metallic brush pen, a pigment liner, a watercolor pencil and an eraser.
There are several creative ways to use them, one possible way of working could look like this: You take a suitable watercolor or mixed media paper to be able to implement color gradients and mixed techniques. Start with a drawing pencil to outline the rough contours of the typeface or motif. Then work with the watercolor brush pens: Use the brush tip for broad sweeps, the fine tip for details and additions. Next, use the water brush to pick up color from the brush pen and create color gradients. Use the pigment liner to create specific accents, outlines or details - especially after the watercolor paint has dried. The metallic brush pen is used to highlight elements (e.g. gloss effects in lettering). The eraser can be used to remove pencil lines in the event of mistakes or messy lines; you can then go over them again with paint.
