For pastel professionals, from Sennelier in France: Pastel Card is a painting ground specially developed for drawing with soft or harder pastel chalks. The surface of the 360 g / m² pastel cardboard consists of a pH-neutral, vegetable coating with a microfiber-like, light grained texture.

At first glance, the grain looks like sandpaper, but is much softer and gentler when brushed over it. When drawing, you achieve an absolutely fine abrasion of the pastel pigments and bright colors. Afterwards, you need much less fixative, because the pigments combine excellently with the granular surface.
