The term "painting board" may be somewhat misleading for some, as the core is not cardboard but a thin medium-density fiberboard (MDF). The primed cotton fabric is laminated on one side, folded over the side edges and also glued on the back. The backing paper is glued onto the folded edges and the entire MDF board. This means that the cardboard does not warp during processing or, depending on the amount of moisture, does not warp as much.

The hard core and the universal primer initially create a somewhat rigid, surprisingly stable and hard character. Especially if you compare the cardboard with a canvas-covered stretcher frame. When painting, the cardboard does not give way and reacts equally hard at every point on the surface. All in all, cardboard is a very versatile painting surface that has many advantages: you can work on a primed fabric to save costs and space. The low thickness of the painting board makes your works more mobile than comparable stretcher frames, which quickly become quite bulky. In addition, works created on painting cardboard can be framed more easily and variably in various frames.
