The NCS Gloss Scale is a small-format color fan whose color patterns can be viewed individually or held on different surfaces. It is a tool that represents the optical effect of gloss with the help of the gray scale. The fan contains four colors from the grey scale, based on the distribution of brightness in the NCS color space. These colours are white, light grey, medium grey and black. Each colour range is represented with seven degrees of gloss, from full matt to high gloss. Each pattern contains information about the name of the gloss level, the gloss value of the color sample, the NCS color designation and the approximate brightness value. With the enclosed cloth, the patterns can be kept free of dust particles and fingerprints - rubbing should be avoided in order to maintain the gloss level.
