For us it works even without the supposed historical reference, especially because it is so solidly made (presumably with current manufacturing techniques) and its spring-loaded rotating mechanism runs so well that you want to use it again and again. And luckily, the writing comfort is nothing like a scratch pen: With the large-capacity refill included, you can write comfortably and securely according to ISO 12757-2.
