The Jacquard color remover spray Decolourant Mist is used for the targeted removal of dyes from dyed natural fibers and paper. The color is not completely washed out during application, but is deliberately reduced or removed in a controlled manner. Preliminary tests are always necessary in order to get to know and control the effect in individual cases. The product is suitable for cotton, linen, silk and wool as well as for paper-based materials. Synthetic fibers usually do not react or only react to a limited extent to the color remover.
Unlike conventional bleaching agents, Decolourant Mist does not attack the fiber structure. The effect is directed exclusively against the dye, not against the carrier material. This means that the feel of the fabric is retained, even if color is partially removed. The color change can vary depending on the original dye and ranges from complete decolorization to lighter, often warm-toned nuances. A prior test on an inconspicuous area is therefore necessary.
The spray is applied cold and only develops its effect through heat activation. After spraying, the material is dried and then heated by ironing or steaming. The decoloration process only begins with this step. The fine spray nozzle enables controlled application, even on smaller surfaces or when working with stencils. This allows patterns, lines or free forms to be worked out of the existing color.
After heat treatment, it is recommended to wash out the material to remove residues and restore the original softness of the fiber. The product is suitable for textile art work as well as for design corrections on dyed fabrics or papers.
