The Faber-Castell Pitt Monochrome Graphite Pure is a full lead graphite pencil for graphic and planar work. Unlike a classic wood-cased pencil, it consists entirely of a continuous graphite lead with a protective coating of plastic film. This means you can not only work with the tip, but also use the pencil at a greater angle to create broader strokes, soft shading and dense contrasts. Faber-Castell assigns the Pitt Graphite range to sketching, graphic work and shading; within this range, the Graphite Pure is particularly intended for contrasts and larger tonal areas.
The design is particularly important for the application. The pencil can be sharpened normally and has a round barrel. The protective film helps you to work cleanly because your hands come into less direct contact with the graphite than with an unprotected solid lead. The pencil is available in four degrees of hardness: HB, 3B, 6B and 9B. This selection of hardness grades allows for both more restrained and softer, darker smears. Because the protective wooden casing is missing, you should handle the pencil with care in everyday use and not drop it.
