The Copic Multiliner Set of 4 Warm Grey / Cool Grey contains four fineliners with pigment-based ink in two shades of gray. The pens are designed for precise line drawings and are often used in combination with Copic markers. The ink is waterproof and alcohol-resistant. This means that your drawn lines remain stable when you subsequently color a drawing with alcohol-based markers or work over it with water-based media. Contours do not run and retain their defined line structure.
Gray lines offer a more restrained effect than black ink. This allows you to draw contours without them dominating the color effect of an illustration. In practice, this is used for fashion illustrations, product drawings or architectural sketches, for example, where lines should have a structuring rather than a strong contrasting effect. The combination of warm and cool gray tones also allows you to differentiate between different areas of the image. Warm gray tones appear softer in comparison and are often used for organic shapes, skin tones or textile surfaces. Cool shades of gray, on the other hand, are suitable for technical motifs, metallic materials or architectural representations.
The pens are often used for sketches, illustrations, manga and comic drawings as well as for layout and design drafts. In work processes in which a drawing is first outlined and then colored, multiliners often serve as the basis for the further development of the illustration.
