The Copic Ciao SHADE set of 6 includes a coordinated selection of 5 markers in 4 shades of gray plus black, which you can use specifically for creating shadows, tonal gradations and spatial depth. The set also includes a black Copic Multiliner with a 0.3 mm wide tip. You can use the color palette to structure drawings and illustrations, work out contrasts and modulate existing color areas. You can use the markers for pure gray studies as well as to complement colored work, for example to define volumes or depict lighting conditions.
The low-odour, alcohol-based ink in the markers, which is absorbed evenly into the paper, allows you to create homogeneous areas of color without hard edges. The transparent ink system allows several layers to be applied on top of each other, creating finely graduated transitions. This feature is particularly important for shading, as darker areas can be built up in a controlled manner without creating hard edges.
Each marker has two tips: a flexible brush tip for organic lines and soft transitions and a medium-width wedge tip for flat work and clearly defined edges. The ink does not dissolve toner from laser prints or copies so that originals can be subsequently colored. The set is suitable for applications such as illustration, manga, product design or architectural drawing where precise shading is required. At the same time, you can use the shades of grey to tone down existing colors or modulate them neutrally. The markers are refillable.
