The Copic Ciao set of 3 contains three alcohol-based markers from the Copic system, which are used for illustrations, layout drawings and colored sketches. The alcohol-based ink enables the creation of homogeneous color areas without visible edges. By overlaying several layers of color, tonal values can be gradually built up and soft color gradients created. This procedure is often used when coloring illustrations, manga drawings or design sketches. Copic Ciao markers are refillable and their tips can be replaced.
The markers have two different tips. On one side there is a flexible brush tip, which is suitable for line variations, organic shapes and flowing color applications. By changing the pressure while drawing, you can create both fine lines and wider areas of color. On the other side is a medium-width wedge tip, which can be used for even areas, markings or structured color applications. The combination of both tips makes it possible to create both contours and colored areas within an illustration with the same marker.
The alcohol-based ink allows so-called layering: several layers of color are applied on top of each other to create color gradients or transitions between different color tones. By reworking an area with a marker, transitions can be smoothed or colors can be combined. This makes the markers particularly suitable for illustrations in which you want to differentiate between light, shadow or material surfaces.
The colors contained in the sets of 3 are coordinated so that they can be combined for typical layering techniques. Depending on the set, light, medium and darker shades of a color group can be included, for example, which can be used for color gradients or graduated shading.
