This masking tape from 3M is primarily a weather resistant masking tape for painting work which even after numerous days can still be removed without leaving any residue. The manufacturer 3M is actually conservative when referring to its removability after two weeks; we have tested the tape ourselves and been able to remove it from glass with no residue after as much as two months! That means that it can certainly be used on materials upon which other customary tapes would leave a residue: especially on glass but also on plastic, metal or other smooth and, particularly, sensitive surfaces. Care should be taken when applying this creped tape on solvent containing, freshly painted surfaces because the adhesive on the tape could react badly or even dissolve as a result of contact. You can use the tape on such surfaces but you should definitely make a preliminary test beforehand to be sure of its efficacy. The tape is impregnated and therefore excellent for masking purposes during painting work because it will not allow any of the paint to bleed through it. The colour of the tape is especially noticeable and adds to its appeal for being used in other kinds of applications like handicrafts and decoration.
