smooth on one side, made from waste paper, fastened with band, no cardboard core, diameter of roll is about 60 mm
According to Gerhard Zahn´s definition in his book “Grundwissen für Buchbinder” (Basic Knowledge for Bookbinders) Makulatur (wastepaper) is the “name for all the various print products that has become incapable of being re-worked”. The wastepaper that makes up the largest part of the raw material for this paper comes primarily from old newspapers and magazines. This produces a roll of affordable paper (it costs a bit to make the rolls themselves!) that is very similar to newspaper. It has a smooth, homogenous surface that takes well to printing. It is mostly used as an intermediate sheet or filler material although that is actually a shame. It is also good to scrawl on or make sketches, print on and stamp as well as make cut patterns or templates. Please note: the actual color of the paper can definitely vary from batch to batch.
