Schmincke universal varnish is a colourless finishing coat for interior use. It provides an elastic and durable protection for oil, acrylic, gouache and other artist paints in three different gloss grades. It can also be use to varnish art prints, ink-jet prints and photographs.
The varnish should not be applied to an oil painting before the paint is completely dry (at least after 8 to 12 months!). This colourless spray should be sprayed from a distance of about 30 to 40 centimetres in a criss-cross horizontal pattern onto a vertically hanging or slightly tilted standing artwork or the like. After a coat has dried the process can be repeated as many times as required to achieve the desired surface effect. The level of UV protection increases with all additional coats.
The dried varnish remains soluble in RECTIFIED TERPENTINE and WHITE SPIRIT, which means it can be removed and renewed, a process that can be necessary when the surface has become extremely dirty or damaged.

- P210: Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking.

- P260: Do not breathe dust / fume / gas / mist / vapours / spray.
- P271: Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
- P304+P340: IF INHALED: Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing.
- P305+P351+P338: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
- P312: Call a POISON CENTER / doctor / … if you feel unwell.
- P410+P412: Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C / 122°F.
