Information about polycarbonate sheets

Since 1982, polycarbonate has been used to manufacture CDs under the trade name Makrolon.

Application
Thanks to its good adhesive properties and simple processing, polycarbonate (PC) is also ideally suited as a model building material.

Properties:
Polycarbonate is extremely impact resistant, has high strength and convinces with its good hardness, scratch resistance and dimensional stability. The service temperatures of polycarbonate are between -135 °C and +130 °C for long-term use. Polycarbonate sheets are generally transparent and colourless. However, if PC is exposed to the sun for a long time, the material turns yellow.

Processing:
Like PMMA (acrylic glass), polycarbonate is relatively notch-sensitive. Polycarbonate sheets up to 2 mm can be scored and broken easily (scratch breaking). Stronger plates should be sawed. Forming is possible with heat input between 180 °C and 220 °C. Dichloromethane is suitable for the production of seamless adhesive joints.

Our offer: We offer
PC or polycarbonate sheets in thicknesses from 0.25 mm to 12.0 mm up to a sheet size of 1250 x 2050 mm.
