Search tips for the Modulor webshop
The search function in the shop is easy to use. To maximize your effiency,
however, we have put together a list of things you should know. Please read
through the following directions in order to find products in the Modulor online
shop quickly and efficiently:
- Empty results field (“Sorry, no products found”): try
alternative terms, check your entry for spelling errors, use the singular instead
of the plural or vice versa. If you are still unsuccessful despite varying
the search term, do not hesitate to call us or send us an email so that we
can advise you.
- Full text searches: the search for the words of your entry
checks through all product information. This consists not only of the name
and the description of the product, but any additional texts as well that appear
when the info links found at the product page are clicked . Because of the
many cross references in the individual product descriptions, it is possible
that you will get a large number of results (e.g. a search for plastic).
You can, however, limit/filter your search by adding search terms (comparable
to an “AND” search – see below).
- Navigating the search results: for technical reasons the
`go back one page´ button does not work on some browsers if you have
clicked on an individual article from the result list and want to go back to
the list again. In this case, please use the link “back to search result
for …”.
- “AND” search: the search function of
the shop is a so-called `And-search´. All the search terms entered must
appear in every search result. Example: red paper will only find paper that
is somehow related to the colour red (exactly as it is with a Google
search). You can limit a result list that is too large by adding more terms
in the search field: e.g. red hand-made paper.
- Cross references/INDEX: cross references to other products
in the shop are designated by capital letters (e.g. “Any gluing can be
done with UHU PLAST”). In order to use these cross references just
enter the designated term in the search field.
- Synonyms: alternative names for our products (synonyms)
are also taken into account during any search.
- Upper case or Lower case…is irrelevant to search
results.
- Singular or Plural: most of the time, the plural is formed
by simply expanding the root word (e.g. pencilS). Therefore, if you
use the singular form in your search (pencil), article names that
are written in the plural in the webshop (pencils) will also be found.
The search term, then, will not necessarily exactly match the terms found in
the results (in contrast to Google searches).
- Word order …does not matter
- Quotation marks…are ignored by the search program
and should therefore not be used.
- Grammar: adjectives should avoid the comparative or superlative.
- Search syntax/Meta symbol: “*” or other meta
symbols are not utilized (e.g. gift*). Terms of exclusion cannot be
used either (e.g. entering paper -red´ in order to find all
paper that is not red will not work).
- Article numbers: if you know the article number, you can
enter it directly in one of the search fields. If entered in the top search
field you will be sent to the overall heading under which all the various versions
of the specific product are organized (patterns, sizes, colours, packaging
units, etc.); if entered in the bottom search field, you will be sent directly
to the exact version of the product you want to purchase.
- Modulor sample box: a search for articles found in the
sample box (Sample Nr.) should be entered in the top search field.
- General information texts: a search in the information
texts listed in the navigation bar at the far right is not possible at this
time. A search, for instance, for our store hours will have no result.
- Firefox: The list of search engines in the Firefox web
browser can be expanded to include the Modulor shop search. Simply pull down
the list and add Modulor.
