The aerial view map of Berlin encompasses the inner city area from Ernst-Reuter Place in the west to the Oberbaum bridge in the east and from Nordkreuz in the north to the Platz der Luftbrücke (Berlin Airlift Place) in the south. It consists of a montage made from 60 coloured aerial view pictures that display the area in a scale of 1:11000. Important sites and buildings are labelled with numbers which correspond to those in the legend under the map providing the relevant information.
The aerial view map of the whole of Berlin is an assemblage of 250 coloured photos that were taken from a height of 2000 metres. The scale is approximately 1:42,500. Larger areas (e.g. Grunewald or Tempelhof Airport) are designated by name. In addition, the map also contains typographical information about heights and the depth of the various bodies of water as well as, in an auxiliary map, a delineation of the separate district boundaries.
The panorama map includes unbelievably detailed three-dimensional drawing of all the buildings in the city centre from the Siegessäule (the Victory Column) all the way to Alexander Platz. The impoetant buildings and sites are numbered so that you can look them up in the legend under the map proper and see what they are. The city map on the reverse side also has many three-dimensional drawings of important buildings and sites. The border of the map has a band of pictures of places of interest and supplies information about museums, theatres and venues. An accompanying 16 page booklet contains a street index as well as a general plan of Berlin, an aerial view of the city centre with a representation of the position of the former Berlin wall, three-dimensional panoramas of the most important sites of the historical city centre in the year 1928 and the Berlin mass transit network.
