The significance of the architectural map of Berlin begins at the point where ordinary maps have left off. Featuring more than 2,000 buildings, it includes almost all the architecturally and historically significant buildings in Berlin. These are not limited to famous landmarks such as the Reichstag, the Potsdamer Platz or the Jüdisches Museum (Jewish museum) as it also includes a great number of less well-known architectural masterpieces.The city guide provides discerning residents of, and visitors to the German capital a comprehensive overview of all the buildings in the form of a practical and easily comprehended directory that can lead them through the city and its history. The sturdy, smooth cardboard map is made up of two sections: the front side has a map of the city centre in a scale of 1:10000; the reverse side has a general overview of the city in a scale of 1:50000. The map is folded into two halves so that it is not necessary to always open it up to full size. Along the border of the map there are photographs of selected objects of interest. The comprehensive index of the ctiy map, which depicts the buildings with small coloured and numbered pennamts drawn within them, is divided into four individual sections so that it is possible to search for specific buildings based on various criteria: the epoc, the building type, the individual architects as well as parks and gardens. You can, for example, look up what kind of building is represented by the designation „red 433“ and when and by whom it was built. The fact that all the included information is also translated into English means that many foreign tourists will be able to take advantage of this wonderful map as well.
