Condensation-crosslinked casting silicones are distinguished by their durableness when working with polyurethane and polyester casting resins. Their good mechanical attributes make either Köraform K 18 or Con Sil 25 an excellent choice for making exact moulds of complicated master patterns with undercuts. Because of its higher degree of hardness, Con Sil 25 can be made into larger moulds than are possible with Köraform K 18 while Con Sil 12 is primarily used to make moulds of smaller objects. Component A of Con Sil 12 an 25 can be mixed one with the other in order to influence the attributes of the vulcanization. All three silicones de-aerate very well because they all have a relatively long working life. Köraform K 18 and Con Sil 25 pour well when ready while Con Sil 12 pours particularly well. You should not work with these silicones at temperatures under 20 °C because their mechanical attributes can be negatively influenced. When storing the condensation-crosslinked silicones, care should be taken that the special component B (curing agent) is closed up tightly. When making moulds on vertical surfaces (e.g. for large sculptures), the additive ALPA TIX C can be employed to attain more thixotropic attributes. The final mechanical attributes are complete after 3 to 7 days.
