Applications: Placards, diagrams, blueprints, photographs or maps can be applied to suitable substrates through the use of adhesive films, adhesives with non-woven paper centres or transfer films. All boards and sheets with smooth surfaces like CARDBOARD, KAPA board or PLASTIC SHEETS are suitable for use as carriers. X-film DX is additionally suitable for use in affixing PRECISION ACRYLIC GLASS and other plastics to the milling table of a CNC milling machine.

Alternatives to double-sided adhesive films and those with non-woven paper centres include: SPRAY GLUE, TRANSFER ADHESIVE, XYRON self-adhesive and laminating machines, GUDY 831, GUDY 870 or sheets and panels that are outfitted with a self-adhesive like, for example, KAPA FIX.

Treatment: Working with double-sided adhesive film proceeds as follows: DX film should be applied from one corner of the carrier piece to the other, made smooth with the aid of a squeegee-type applicator and pressed into place while at the same time the release liner is continuously removed as required. Before the PE film liner is removed at a sharp angle, any bubbles should be punctured with a NEEDLE and smoothed out.

The same procedure applies to all the Gudy products. Because only one of their sides has a protective liner, more care must be taken when working on larger areas in order to prevent the adhesive side from sticking to places where it shouldn’t.

Applying the object to the prepared substrate requires a certain amount of dexterity because double-sided adhesive films are very clingy (like plastic wrap). Once the paper has been placed on the film, it must sit perfectly. Large folds or creases cannot be removed because the paper can no longer be separated from the film. Here too, you can work radially from the middle of a side outwards and do the necessary pressing with a soft brush or cloth.

Attributes: Gudy 831 is not an adhesive film but rather a double-sided adhesive non-woven paper which only has a release liner consisting of siliconized paper on one of its sides which is wound on itself and therefore is only available in rolls. Its aqueous dispersion based acrylate adhesive is aging resistant, will not yellow, will not become brittle, will not bleed through, is pH neutral and is produced in an ecologically friendly manner without solvent. Applications: Gudy 831 lends itself to being worked with by hand and can be applied to many smooth, rough and flexible substrates (e.g. uncoated particle board, plastic sheets). It is especially good for bonding paper to both cardboard and paperboard because in the process all the bonded components have similar attributes and the chances of warping are less than when using adhesive film.
