Contact glues remain really elastic after bonding (that is what makes the bond very durable). They contain solvents, are especially good for planar bonds on diverse materials and should be used as follows: apply the adhesive evenly to both sides – in the case of larger areas use a SERRATED SCRAPER for application – allow it to evaporate for approximately 15 minutes until the glue is no longer sticky to the touch and then firmly press the pieces together. In doing this last step, it is the amount of pressure applied, not how long you apply it, that determines the solidity of the bond. Repositioning is not possible. Uhu Por is a quick drying contact glue that is very resistant to aging which was specially designed for bonding polystyrene rigid foam to itself and to other materials like wood, paper, metal and different plastics. This adhesive cures in the glue joints more quickly than Tesa all-purpose glue because as a contact adhesive it will already have been allowed to dry beforehand. The total work time is, however, longer because 10 to 20 minutes must pass to allow for evaporation before joining the pieces together. The bond must be quickly and firmly pressed together which is not always possible in the case of constructions made from rigid foam. In those cases we therefore recommend TESA ALL-PURPOSE GLUE (for model making) or DECOTRIC POLYSTYRENE FOAM GLUE(for large areas). |
