Contact glues remain really elastic after bonding (that is what makes the bond very durable). They contain solvents, are especially good for planar bonds on diverse materials and should be used as follows: apply the adhesive evenly to both sides – in the case of larger areas use a SERRATED SCRAPER for application – allow it to evaporate for approximately 15 minutes until the glue is no longer sticky to the touch and then firmly press the pieces together. In doing this last step, it is the amount of pressure applied, not how long you apply it, that determines the solidity of the bond. Repositioning is not possible. Pattex Transparent is not as temperature resistant and does not completely attain the same adhesive strength as Pattex Classic but it is, to a great extent, waterproof and resistant to aging and thinned acids and lyes. As far as use and processing it is the same as PATTEX CLASSIC; it does, it should be noted, also attain particularly high bonding strength when used with many thermoplastics (except for PP, PE and styropor) as well as with soft plastics (SOFT PVC) because Pattex Transparent is plasticizer resistant. Because of its being transparent, it is of course especially good for making transparent adhesive joints as well as planar bonds with transparent plastics.
