Attributes: This adhesive is beige in colour and has medium viscosity. Because its consistency lends itself to spreading, this adhesive can be easily applied with a brush, spatula or, thinned, with a spray gun. Ruderer MK-N is not sensitive to frost; by adding 5% hardener 1 E it can be made more resistant to heat and moisture as well as have its ability to adhere to various materials increased. Applications: Ruderer MK-N is a high quality, polychloroplene-based contact adhesive which can be used for many different jobs but which we primarily recommend for use in bonding NEOPRENE (NEOPRENE MAT, FABRIC COATED). It is, however, suitable as well for bonding rubber and plastic sheets like laminated material, GFK, rigid-PVC and ABS to coated metals, wood materials, cement-based materials, plasterboard, etc. Since the number of possible materials with different surfaces that can be bonded is large, preliminary tests should be carried out before proceeding. Treatment: It is best to work with Ruderer MK-N at room temperature. The surfaces to be glued must be dry and clean and especially free from oil, grease or release agent. Aluminium, rubber and plastic must definitely be roughed up directly before any bonding work. In the case of other materials, it is usually not necessary to abrade them but it can lead to a better bond. The adhesive must be thoroughly stirred before use and it must be applied evenly to both sides. Because its consistency lends itself to spreading, this adhesive can be easily applied with a BRUSH, SPATULA or, thinned, with a spray gun. After an aeration time of about 10 minutes, the pieces should be strongly and quickly pressed together in order to achieve an optimal bond. The initial bond is usually strong enough that further work can be started right away. The maximum bonding strength will only be reached after a few days, which means that only after this amount of time has passed can a full amount of stress can be applied or an accurate assessment of the bond strength be made.
