Applications: Please make a clear determination regarding the desired height and width of the side frame pieces as well as the length of the crossbar strut determining the overall length of your table base. The frame pieces and the crossbar struts can be combined to create table bases of varying sizes. The smallest a base can be is 660 x 700 x 800 mm (h x w x l), the largest is 720 x 780 x 1350 mm. One also has the choice between side frames which are connected to one another by the cross strut in the middle of their horizontal bars or connected off-centre (offset), i.e. more towards the "back" of the horizontal bars (imagine the table against a wall). The latter variation allows for more leg room under the table and is recommended if it is to be used primarily from one side as, for instance, a writing table. Please notice that when assembling the table with an offset crossbar you can only put the cross struts together one way because of the placement of the bore holes in the side frames. The table top normally lies upon the hooded plugs at the top end of the side frames and extends beyond them on all sides. This presents no problem when the table top is heavy enough that it will not slip or slide. If you want it to be more secure, however, there are a number of possibilities: anti-slip rubber plugs can be introduced; the fasteners for table tops can be used to allow screwing the table on; the height adjuster with solid plate also enables a screw attachment to the side frames. If the table is to stand on an uneven surface, the adjustable feet will be extremely helpful as level-balance. When used as a drawing table, the table´s noticeably low original height of 660 mm is more than acceptable because the rear portion of the table is thereby eminently reachable. For use as a writing or dining table, it is advisable to use the basic height adjuster to raise the side frames. You can, of course, just order a 720 mm side frame to begin with, because with this height, together with a 30 mm thick table top, you will have a very comfortable table height of 750 mm. If the rubber castors are added to the frame, the table will be approximately 75 mm higher which means that, even if the 660 mm side frame is used without any height adjusters, you will still have a comfortable table height. The table top can also be set at a slant: the simplest way to achieve this is to place the front edge of the table top on the horizontal bars at the front of the side frames instead of in the usual position on top of the vertical bar (the table top just sits in the "L" formed by the two bars (the rear section of the table top rising to the end of the rear vertical bar). In this way a slant of about 2 degrees is produced which can then be increased by as much as 19 degrees by utilizing the height adjusters. If you want to set the table top at a slant without having to place its front edge on the side frame’s horizontal bar and want to use just height adjusters instead, it is advisable, after a certain angle, to implement the fasteners for inclined tops because otherwise the table top can, in the worst case, slip off. In this version of slant setting, the rear plates would be screwed to the table top but the forward plates would not. Please note that the height adjuster with a solid plate cannot be used for setting the table at a slant. The side frames for offset crossbar struts are designed so that the strut is not screwed to the middle of the horizontal bar of the frame but is instead screwed to it more towards the back (imagine the table against a wall). This variation allows for more leg room under the table and is recommended if it is to be used primarily from one side as, for instance, a writing table. The distances between crossbar struts and the outer edges of the frame is for both side frame versions as follows: For the 700 mm deep frame: from the centre of the crossbar struts to the front edge of the frame it is 500 mm, to the back edge it is 200 mm For the 780 mm deep frame: from the centre of the crossbar struts to front edge of frame it is 580 mm, to the back edge it is 200 mm
Important!
Please be sure to select a complete table base including both the side frames and the crossbar strut in the desired lenght. Please notice that when assembling the table with an offset crossbar you can only put the cross struts together one way because of the placement of the bore holes in the side frames.
Side frames and crossbar struts can be ordered in different sizes (whatever you wish) and colours (limited to the RAL colours).
