Xyron is an American company that concentrates on the development and sales of innovative self-adhesive and lamination products. Its combination gluing and laminating machines have been very successful in Europe and the USA. All the glues and adhesive films are manufactured for Xyron by 3M – a guarantee for high quality.

Xyron machines function without electricity, heat or solvents, have very simple designs and have such good workmanship that there is nothing really that can go wrong. If, however, you do require a replacement part, all of them are sold individulally and can be installed by non-professionals. The patented cassettes can likewise be interchanged as you like in order to implement one of the many different possible uses. The following uses are possible with the machines we sell:

Self-adhesive coating: As compared to working with spray adhesives or other adhesive applying machines, the Xyron has many advantages, especially for graphic artists, advertising agencies and designers. Most impressive are its absolutely clean results, the fact that it does not jam and that it can be put to use anytime, anywhere. Providing a self-adhesive backing for an object takes only a few seconds. You simply place the object face up onto the starting area of the Xyron and turn the handle until it comes out on the other side. The object is now, like an adhesive film, covered with adhesive on the back side including a covering paper and can be applied immediately. Different types of glue are available which can be interchanged depending on what your job may require.

• Permanent, high tack refill (adhesive strength 10): sticks immediately on practically any surface (compare to DISPLAY MOUNT from 3M), pH is 5.0 to 7.0 (passed the PAT – photo activity test), also suitable for use in wet or outdoor areas
• Permanent, quick tack refill (adhesive strength 9): sticks very quickly on practically any surface, especially suitable for use with colour laser printers and colour copiers which use a high percentage of silicone oil for fixing, pH is 5.0 to 7.0
• Permanent, standard refill (adhesive strength 8): sticks great to practically any surface, pH is 5.0 to 7.0
• Repositionable refill, low strength adhesive, acid-free: the object can be removed at any time without leaving any residue but still sticks well enough that it will not come off on its own (somewhere between 3M SPRAY MOUNT and CREATIVE MOUNT).

One side coated with adhesive/other side laminated: Possible uses include all situations in which something is to be stuck somewhere where dirt and moisture can be a problem. One side of the intended object is provided with a self-adhesive coating and the other receives a bubble-free lamination film. The lamination consists of a glossy, highly transparent polypropylene film which sticks extremely well on many substrates (paper, cardboard, films made of plastic, metal foils, etc.). It is suitable for use as protection on photographs, laser and ink-jet prints, heat-sensitive paper and many more materials. The laminating film passed the photo activity test (PAT). The combination cassettes are available in different adhesive strengths: permanent, high adhesive strength and repositionable, low adhesive strength.

Simply put the paper in place,	turn the handle,
until the paper is completely through,	cut the paper free on the cutter bar,
remove the protective film,	remove transfer film and stick it on – done.

The Xyron 1255 was specially developed for advertising agencies that work a lot with colour laser printers or colour copiers. The machine works with a very high pressing pressure which allows it to assure that the transfer adhesive will also stick very well on colour laser prints or colour copies which contain silicone oil. Unfortunately, this high pressing pressure is also disadvantageous as regards the multifunctional abilities of the machine in that it cannot produce two-sided laminations.

This machine should really only be purchased by users who only need it for adhesive work and can do without the laminating function. The maximum thickness capacity of the machine is about 3.2 mm. Objects with this thickness should not be run through the machine very often because continual overstressing of the rollers can damage them.
