PC sheets with thicknesses from 2 to 4 mm and other various PC multi-wall sheets are flame resistant (B1 per DIN 4102 for interiors, DIN 4102). This means that they can be used in places like public buildings, trade shows and stage sets. They may be somewhat more expensive than the likewise flame resistant PVC but then they provide absolute transparency in return. Thicker versions of the solid sheets, by virtue of their hardness and impact resistance, are perfect for use as “unbreakable” panels. Examples of such use include transparent surfaces in public areas, security panels for protecting machines or auxiliary panels for display windows. Because of the high temperatures that PC films and PC sheets can withstand (up to 130°) they are a wonderful material for lamps. PC sheets up to 2 mm can be scored and broken as you please. Thicker sheets will have to be sawn. PC up to 1.5 mm is equipped with deep-drawable protective film.
The translucent colourless PC film 99500 M3 is often used to cover mousepads because it is so scratch resistant. The film has the desired motif silk-screened on one side and is then glued to CELLULAR RUBBER.
