“Paper comes alive” – colourful sculptures with a very unique aesthetic can be created using only a relatively limited amount of basic components from the Pepastar line.
Four star-shaped pieces with three, four, five and six ends are available for your implementation. Two or more ends can be hooked together into twistable connections. These can then be fixed into place by means of the provided flaps. After many comprehensive tests, the designer Bruno Carl Winter consciously decided to use a relatively thin type of paper instead of cardboard because, on the one hand, it may be more fragile but, on the other, it is more flexible, bends more easily and produces really beautiful curves. The smallest star is about 75 mm, the largest about 140 mm in size. In order to strengthen sections of a created object, two elements can be placed one on top of the other and applied as you would a single star. Getting started is best accomplished by copying a shape in order to familiarize yourself with the product and the possibilities. This kind of game leads directly to working more creatively, more abstractly and making deformations. A ball can quickly become a dragon or spaceship which then can turn into a frog. In the course of such intricate work the elements can naturally be folded, cut, glued or painted… The Pepastars came into being as a result of collaboration with educators, game researchers and developmental psychologists in connection with Bruno Carl Winter’s graduate studies. For his work he received much acclaim including, among others, the if product design award 2008. All paper elements are made with 100% recovered paper and the coloured paper has been certified as food safe.
